the hotel is in a wonderful location, in the centre of wells directly opposite the cathedral. its old world atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff make for a very relaxing stay. the room - in the coachhouse this time - was clean and comfortable, with good heating and plentiful hot water. the evening meal in the restaurant was excellent and well served (including an unprompted offer of tap water), and the breakfast was freshly cooked.

this was our second stay at the swan and our reason for booking it again was that we were so impressed by it previously. we were not disappointed in any way. the swan is welcoming from the moment you walk through the door. the staff are always helpful and it's always service with a smile. the rooms are clean,comfortable and warm (very important for winter stays like ours).one great advantage the swan has is the off street parking which is very useful in the centre of the city where some hotels do not have their own car-parks.its central position is also an advantage giving easy access to all the city centre shops plus the historic market square and cathedral. the restaurant was just as good as we remembered it,with breakfast plentiful and well cooked with the staff always happy to adjust the dishes on the menu to your requirements. we only had one evening meal this year but it was again all we expected from this standard of hotel.in conclusion iwe would happily recommend the swan to anyone wishing to stay in wells and look forward to our next stay.
