 friendly and helpful staff  room was quite cold on arrival  very nice place, easy to find, plenty of space to park, easy access to the town. very helpful staff - explaining best route to airport with detailed direction sheet. good knowledge of local facilities - ie not many on a monday night in april.the room was comfortable and as expected - it warmed up quite quickly after turning on the radiator.clean bathroom and towels.quite expensive as breakfast is not included, but this seems to be the going rate for the area. the location, ideal for stansted airport not hot running water clean and friendly shower, on suite facilities of poor quality personal friendly service from hands on management. bathroom although very clean! would benefit from modernisation
no sunday dinner but an excellent recommend for the chinese in dunmow susan and barry made us feel very welcome and very much at ´home´.
even though the resident chef was on leave the food prepared and presented by first reserve chef susan was excellent and the full english breakfast can certainly be recommended.
looking forward to a return visit. the peace and quiet of a country hotel,just a short journey from stanstead airport. having to leave so soon........!!! this beautiful hotel,set just outside the historic village of thaxted is an absolute jewel...in an extremely competative industry that too often offers mediocrity,i would recommend thaxted hall to people who would like something in comlpete contrast to the ´delights of your average airport hotel..´
barry and susan go out of their way to make you feel at home and the service they offer is second to none.....the perfect place to stopover,whether en route to the airport or upon returning from your travels....a trip into thaxted is an absolute must...a village steeped in history and colour...... close to stansted airport yet also very remote. lovely property and room. parking lot was very dark. got lost on way to hotel, tried to call reception for help but it was closed, so hence started to worry that i´d be unable to check in when i arrived. suggest that it be made clearer that reception closes at 10pm. felt bad that i kept the owner up waiting as well.
