very friendly staff, food of good quality.

rooms a bit tired, dining room not open

staff really nice and friendly, excellent value, rooms clean but tired. food of good quality in bar. hotel very nicely positioned facing the abbey.

excellent value for money, good room and facilities in room. brilliant that hotel is dog friendly. good breakfast. clean room and comfortable stay, would come again.

customer service on welcome was poor, unaware of us bringing dog even though our email stated we were. need dog water bowls.

were told by lady who checked us in that there was restaurant food in evening but a poor bar menu was all that was offered, had to go to local hotel for nice evening meal. would have liked to known that there was no restaurant in evening. also would like to see more selection on bar menu, only one vegetarian option. other than that everything else was pleasant and would consider using hotel again.

beautiful views from our room over the abbey.

heating was a little temperamental, but fixed by the manager on request.

double room was basic but clean and comfortable.

lounge bar was reasonable but lacked soft comfortable seating. good legs needed as a lot of steep narrow stairs up to rooms.

staff and service were excellent. very good value for short break.

amazing setting, across the road from the magnificent tintern abbey. nice rustic interior design.

room hadn't been thouroughly cleaned, there were hairs in the bath.

a lovely hotel in a gorgeous setting. a basic room but good enough for a short stay. food was also basic, could have done with more choices for a continental breakfast.

good service and accommodation was a good standard-the food was excellent and overall the room was very comfortable.

i did feel however that the cost was high for the service received

an enjoyable stay as the hotel is situated in pleasant surroundings. as mentioned i did feel that the hotel was slightly overpriced-but i have no complaints about the service received.the food was excellent.

Parts of the hotel's building date back to 1206 when it was inside the original precinct wall of the abbey. the earliest trade directory in which it was listed as a hotel was 1835, when it was known as the beaufort arms hotel. the landlord at that time was for many years recorded as being the key holder and official guide to the abbey. although the hotel has undergone many changes throughout its history, in 2002 it was completely refurbished and renamed.
